Sweet with a little tartness. It is known that the flowers and the fruit were from very ancient times used to remedy venomous bites. The bramble is a valuable astringent and the fruit stops looseness of the bowels and is good for stone, and for soreness in the mouth and throat. The fruit also contains malic and citric acids, pectin and albumen.
